This privacy policy explains which personal data we process when you visit this website. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Hosting and server log files

This website is operated on Azure Static Web Apps, a service provided by Microsoft. Our contractual partner is Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. The pages are delivered via Microsoft's global content delivery network so that they load quickly. As a result, processing may also take place outside Switzerland and the EU, in particular in the USA.

When a page is accessed, Microsoft processes technically necessary information such as the IP address, date and time, the page accessed, the referrer, and the browser and operating system in order to deliver the page and to operate the service securely and reliably. We ourselves do not analyze this data, do not compile access statistics, and do not link it with other data. How long Microsoft retains such operational data is governed by Microsoft's policies. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The basis of this collaboration is Microsoft's Data Protection Addendum with standard contractual clauses. Microsoft is also certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework. Further information: Microsoft's privacy policy.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set cookies and does not use any analytics or tracking tools. No usage profiles are created. Fonts and images are loaded from our own server; no data is transmitted to third-party providers such as Google when you visit the pages.

Contact form

The contact forms on this website are provided by Formspree, a service of Formspree Inc., 1550 Larimer St #1051, Denver, CO 80202, USA. When you submit a form, your details (name, email address, chosen topic, message and the page you sent the form from) are transmitted to Formspree, stored there and forwarded to us by email. Formspree applies spam-detection measures. The data is processed in the USA on the basis of the EU and Swiss standard contractual clauses. The legal basis is your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). We delete requests at Formspree once they have been answered and no retention obligations apply. Further information: Formspree privacy policy.

Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide (email address, name, and the content of the message) in order to respond to your inquiry and to clarify any follow-up questions. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for this purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.

Newsletter and eBook

You can subscribe to our newsletter and request our eBook via the eBook page. For this we need your email address and, for the eBook, additionally your name. Registration uses a double opt-in procedure: you first receive an email in which you confirm your registration. Only then do we send you the newsletter or the download link for the eBook. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

For sending, we use Mailchimp, a service provided by Intuit Inc., 2700 Coast Avenue, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Your information is stored on Mailchimp servers in the USA. Mailchimp also analyzes whether and when newsletters are opened and which links are clicked so that we can improve our mailings. Intuit is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email or by sending an email to [email protected]. Your data will then be deleted from the mailing list.

Presentations from Speaker Deck

On the pages about our talks, you can view the slides directly. They are loaded from Speaker Deck (Speaker Deck, LLC, USA), but only once you click "Show slides". No data is transmitted to Speaker Deck before that. After the click, Speaker Deck receives technical information such as your IP address and the page accessed, and may set cookies and use analytics services. In the process, the data may be transferred to the USA. The legal basis is your consent given by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). This website contains links to external services such as GitHub, LinkedIn, XING, Microsoft, or Google. Merely visiting our pages does not transmit any data to these providers. Only once you click a link do the privacy terms of the respective provider apply.

Your rights

You have the right to obtain information about the personal data we process about you, as well as the right to rectification, erasure, or restriction of processing, the right to data disclosure or data portability, and the right to object to processing. You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. To do so, please contact [email protected].

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority: in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
